2011 Monument Wildfire - Sound and Press Archive

As of Sunday afternoon, June 12th, what has been named the Monument Wild Fire is burning in the Coronado National Memorial and directly north and east of that area.  As of Sunday, June 19th the fire has already damaged over 20000 acres of land.  KBRP will be posting all of the information we have available for our listeners on this page, so please keep checking back frequently or tuning in on 96.1 FM or online at KBRP RADIO dot COM.

If you need assistance from the Red Cross as a result of the Monument Fire you can call: 800-341-6943

• The Red Cross is offering Family Recovery Services. Please visit the Red Cross at Buena, located inside the library or at the Cochise County Complex, 4001 E. Foothills Drive. The hours of operation are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

If you have lost or are missing animals in Cochise County because of the fire call 520-432-9500.

• There is a Facebook page that has been developed for misplaced pets as a result of the Monument Fire. Please visit this site if you either lost a pet or found one so we can re-unite all. Thank you.

Monument Fire Lost or Found Pets

Fire information bulletin boards are set up at the High School, food court at the Sierra Vista Mall, and Windemere Hotel; fact sheets and maps are posted throughout Sierra Vista, Bisbee, Palominas, and Huachuca City.

The City of Sierra Vista is available to assist friends and family seeking loved ones displaced by the Monument Fire. Please call the City at 520-458-3315 with your contact information, which will be posted on the City's website for love ones to call you when possible.

The Chiricahua Community Health Centers’ Mobile Medical Clinic will be traveling around the Monument Fire site in the Hereford/ Sierra Vista area for anyone needing medical assistance. CCHC will have a certified medical provider and support staff available. If you see the mobile unit, just drop in or call the unit at 520-559-4157 to find its location.

Anyone wishing to inquire about the status of their home, please call the Cochise County Sheriff's Office at (520) 432-9500.

The Arizona Division of Emergency Management (ADEM), at the request of Cochise County, is responding by opening an Individual Assistance Service Center (IASC) in Sierra Vista. Its mission: to help the uninsured and underinsured who lost primary residences or personal property due to the Monument Fire.

• The IASC opens at 10 a.m. June 24 at Cochise County Foothills Complex, 4001 E. Foothills Drive, in Sierra Vista. The center will serve as a centralized location for affected residents who were evacuated because of the Monument and Horseshow Two fires to receive information aiding their personal recovery from the fire.

• The IASC will be open Friday June 24, 2011 and Saturday June 25, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday June 27, 2011 through Saturday July 2, 2011. Residents can call the center at (520) 221-0160.

• Representatives of Cochise County, state of Arizona agencies (including ADEM) and members of the Arizona Volunteer Agencies Active in Disaster (VOAD) will be available to answer questions, offer spiritual support and make referrals.

“Evacuation Clean-Up Crews” offered by Veritas Christian Community School (parents and teens) is offering assistance to those evacuated from their homes due to the Monument Fire. Assistance is offered to the elderly, those with physical limitations, or single parents needing help in general housecleaning, including removing spoiled food and cleaning refrigerators/freezers, general housecleaning, etc. A team of 3-4 people will come to your home for approximately two hours and will provide all cleaning supplies.
