Bountiful Bisbee - Week of October 15th

SUMMARY

Aren't these cool mornings lovely, after such a long, hot summer? Expect to find more fall produce at the market this week. We normally see a break between the end of summer harvest and the beginning of the fall harvest which brings the root vegetables, the carrots, the beets, the winter squashes, and the leafy greens like chard, collards, and mustard. This year has been no exception but things like the melons of summer are still happening which is pretty good since some of our days are still plenty warm. Our music for this week is the always popular Vince and Friends. It is always such a treat to see so many local musicians show up to lend our good friend Vince a hand cranking out some of our favorite tunes. We are so lucky to always have the best in local entertainment and on a Saturday morning, to boot. Come grab a cup of delicious coffee or something good to eat and rock out with us. We are there in Vista Park from 9:00A until 1:00P with something for everyone, including great holiday shopping.

Bountiful Bisbee - Week of October 8th

SUMMARY

We welcome another beautiful fall day in Bisbee. Last week was so pleasant and the Wellness Fair and raffle were really successful. This week the focus will be a little more laid back. Enjoy the music of Nowhere Man and a Whiskey Girl while shopping for the increasing fall produce. Or feast on something really satisfying from Elvia's Kitchen, her soups are always a hit on cool mornings. Or a flavorful smoked pork sandwich from Smudgie's BBQ. Or for something really unique, try the local menu from Ecoasis. New this week will be corn crepes stuffed with Saucedo's Italian Sausage and Tweenstone Farm's Savory Chevre covered in a green chili sauce. Yum! The food offered and devoured each week really brings such a special flair to your Farmers Market.

SUMMARY

Wow, can you believe it is already October? Summer veggies are fading. There are still plenty of melons, peppers, and eggplant but you can expect to see more Winter Squash, leafy greens, and root vegetables in the coming weeks. Bedding plants for fall gardens are also available. As are the healthy, free range meats for those delicious soups and stews we all love on these chilly, fall evenings. The pace of the market is slowing down but we are in the early stages of planning to extend your market throughout the year with only a small break over the holidays. Look for more information on this plan in the coming weeks.

SUMMARY

All I can say is "YEAH" fall! The bugs are gone. The weather is cooler. The skies are clearer and the produce is still bountiful. Of course, the type of produce is changing with the season. Winter squash and pumpkins, beets, carrots, and greens along with the end of summer tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, and peppers will all show up this week at the market. As a reminder, the fall hours for the market are 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

SUMMARY

This week, Bountiful Bisbee is keeping in mind all of those affected by the Monument Fire. We also want to recognize all of the people who have helped bring the fire under control. Walter Tinnin from Desert Wind Farm returns to the market from St. David with a reminder that our late freeze has delayed the onset of produce. Summer is finally here and the market is full of squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, sweet onions, and fresh herbs. There will be plenty of eatable goods for sale from Two Groovy Sisters granola to Juilette and Gabe's wonderful bread creations. The musical accompaniment this week will be the cool jazz of Nancy Weaver.
