Democracy is coming to The Bisbee Radio Project! KBRP is into its third year on the air and is ready to hold its first member-based Board of Directors election. There will be a special election for Board positions held on September 21, 2007. If you were a BRP member by June 12, 2007 then you are eligible to run for the Board and to vote in this special election.
The Bisbee Radio Project is the non-profit organization that umbrellas KBRP, Bisbee’s low power, non-commercial, community operated radio station. KBRP is an independent, People’s radio featuring non-corporate news and a variety of programs produced by Bisbee residents. KBRP 96.1fm has become a vital and important part of Bisbee life.
The Bisbee Radio Project Board maintains and oversees the legal, ethical and financial obligations of the non-profit organization. Specific responsibilities include managing the FCC license to broadcast, maintaining BRP’s non-profit status with the Arizona Corporation Commission, and overseeing the finances of the radio station. Transparency and accountability are important to Bisbee’s listener-supported radio station.
BRP Board Members uphold the mission and values of the organization and contribute in a meaningful way to their community by keeping its radio station intact and healthy.

KBRP welcomes the new volunteers who have been helping out with radio tech stuff, sitting the KBRP booth the Farmers’ Market, designing membership management systems, getting involved with programming and setting up BRP’s first big election. Many hands make light work at our community-operated radio station and we look forward to what you will bring to the airwaves one day!
The Spirit of Bisbee CD rocks! You can find Bisbee’s first all-local music compilation at Atalanta’s Music & Books, The Bisbee Coffee Co., Mimosa Market & Deli, and Penny Lane Thrift & Gift. Many thanks to these businesses for donating 100% of the proceeds to KBRP.
