2014 KBRP Fund Drive - The Sound of Ideas

Over the last nine years, KBRP Community Radio has grown to provide an unparalleled media service for our community. This expanded service includes video, audio, print, and web production. Because of this growth, we find ourselves at a critical point in our evolution:

How do we grow and serve you better as a comprehensive media entity?

This is where we need your help. During the 2014 KBRP Fund Drive, we are asking you to “help us create and introduce a comprehensive media strategy to our community.” We want you to help us dream big. What would you like to see us accomplish as a media organization?

While you have always known KBRP as a radio station, the truth is that our mission is focused on creating a community media center and not just a radio station. We understand this might be a difficult task for most people to wrap their heads around, but one we feel our membership is ready and able to help us create.

Would you like to see KBRP operate video and television services? How about multiple audio programming streams? What about a KBRP publication?

The 2014 KBRP Membership Drive will serve as the foundation for this capacity building. We are asking you to not only support the station with a financial contribution, but also step up to help create programming and provide us with feedback about your aspirations for the station.

KBRP needs to raise 25,000 dollars to help cover our operating expenses. This fund drive goal is our most ambitious fund drive goal ever, and we will need each and every one of you to help us achieve it.

Over the next year, KBRP is going to launch our most ambitious initiative ever in the creation of a full local news and public affairs department. We are also going to create an ambitious on-demand service for many of our most popular programs. We want you to be able to listen to KBRP when you need it.

Our hope is to limit the on-air portion of this fund drive. We would like to complete this process in less than a month. We believe our listeners can help us meet this challenge and in return KBRP has created a number of incentives to encourage you to pledge today.

For current members, your pre-drive renewal by November 1st will provide you an opportunity to win a trip to Tucson on November 13th to see the Oh Yeah! Tour with The Preservation Hall Jazz Band with Allen Toussiant as well as dinner and accommodations provided by KBRP.

For our sustaining members, the members who have signed up for our monthly subscription service, your renewal is automatic, which instantly qualifies you for this pre-fund drive opportunity. If you have considered signing up for this option, you can do it right now through the options below and let us know at check out whom you would like to make part of the KBRP family.

You will also have an opportunity to choose to add $20 to your membership that will be specifically earmarked for our partnership with Radio Cultural in Naco, Sonora, Mexico. This project is working to create a cross-border media education center that will begin training community media journalists and producers starting in 2015.

We know you have many media options available to you and we thank you for making KBRP one of them. Your continued support for our service will allow the station to meet our financial goals, which will work directly to expand and evolve the programs and services we present to you. It will also help us to create a community media organization that is responsive to your hopes, ideas, and dreams.

KBRP broadcasts thousands of hours of original content each year put together by our volunteers. This includes all of our arts and cultural programming as well as:

-- The Copper Chronicle, our collaboration with the Bisbee Mining and Historical Museum
-- The KBRP Youth Media Project, our enrichment program at Bisbee High School
-- The KBRP Speaker Series, which has featured Amy Goodman and Jim Hightower
-- Bisbee City Council Live Streaming and Archive, a service of KBRP and the City of Bisbee
-- home to the Bisbee Blues Foundation and the Bisbee Blues Festival.

KBRP has evolved over the last 5 years to include some exciting new programs, but we are just beginning to reach our potential, and we are asking you to be a part of this continued evolution to create a grassroots media center that will be a true community asset now and far into the future.

You may renew your membership (one-time) below or choose to become a sustaining member of the radio station with regular automatic monthly withdrawals from your checking account or credit card. Beginning at the station’s Charter Membership ($120), you can contribute $10, $20 (Benefactor Membership), or $30 (Dollar-A-Day Membership) a month, which will provide the station with the needed support to maintain a positive cash flow throughout the year.

This system has been extensively tested and has yielded a more detailed and interactive interface with your KBRP membership.  You have our assurance that your information is absolutely safe through KBRP’s use of a secure Paypal server.  The new set up also allows you to customize your donation and purchase gift donations as well.

All membership contributions go directly to support the programming on KBRP. All members receive:

-- a monthly e-newsletter
-- advance notice on station programming and special events
-- free admission to the Telescopic Audio Film Series
-- ticket(s) to the KBRP Annual Meeting and Party
-- discounts on KBRP merchandise
-- and other assorted thank-you gifts.

Our sustaining memberships also provide the donor with a quarterly thank-you gift selection as well as donor recognition at the radio station.

Let's take a look at the different pledge level available to you:

One-Time Memberships:

A one-time membership provides you a year of membership in KBRP Community Radio.  This contribution goes to offsetting the station's operational costs and covers the costs of all programming.  This year, we will be providing a number of thank you gifts to members at all levels.  This will include CDs and KBRP promotional materials.  This is in addition to the regular member benefits you will receive (see above).  As a renewing member, you must renew at the Individual Member level or above to receive regular member benefits.  You can select the appropriate level from the drop down menu below and add the membership to the Paypal cart.

This year you have two new options including adding a $20 membership (from drop down menu) for Radio Cultural in Naco, Sonora, our radio partner, as well as designating a gift membership at the time of check out.  We need the name, address, phone number, and email of the individual and this person must not be a current KBRP member.  You will be given an opportunity to provide this information just prior to making your payment.
