Job Title: Station Manager

Reports to: Bisbee Radio Project Board Of Directors

Employment Status: Exempt; 40 hours/week

Positions supervised: 1 part-time paid employee, volunteer on-air DJs, other volunteers and contractors

General Description:
 

Coordinate day-to-day station operations; Increase the Station's connection to the community; Meet or exceed fundraising goals and maintain membership database; Ensure compliance with Federal Communications Commission regulations as well as other applicable regulations.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Manage and direct the day-to-day operations in order to execute the mission of the station and ensure that it is operating effectively, legally, and in a fiscally responsible fashion.  

  • Supervise employee(s), volunteers, and contractors

  • Attend meetings of the Bisbee Radio Project Board of Directors (Board) as a non-voting member.

  • Keep Board adequately informed as to matters of concern and serve as the Board's principal station contact.

  • Coordinate compliance with broadcast governing entities to ensure that all necessary licenses, permits, and subscriptions are up to date.

  • Maintain approved transmission and power levels and all required record-keeping.

  • Assure maintenance of station facilities, IT systems, and website.

  • Supervise orientation, training, and evaluation of all paid, contracted, and volunteer staff.

  • Create an annual budget (to be approved by Board) and keep operations within the approved budget.

  • Oversee the financial records for the station including check register, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

  • Prepare financial reports for presentation to the Board on a monthly basis or as requested by the Board.

  • Assist in the preparation of contracts entered into by the station.

  • Work to acquire grants and funds from outside agencies, national foundations, arts advocacy groups, and local and national corporations.

  • Assist the Board and select committees in structuring major donor solicitation campaigns.

  • Support individual and business solicitation efforts by creating and/or strengthening relationships between KBRP and targeted community groups and individuals.

  • Provide oversight for station-related events, campaigns, and other activities.

  • Work with the Board to comply with the Mission Statement and to carry out the strategic plan.

  • Broadcast and radio programming experience

  • All phases of grant procurement processes

  • Fundraising

  • Event planning

  • Volunteer coordination

  • Non-profit organization experience

  • Leadership, team-building, and organizational experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to anticipate needs, discern priorities, and meet deadlines with limited direction.

  • Computer skills on both PCs and Macs.  Including (but not limited to: word processing, spreadsheets, web development, audio editing, etc.)

  • Financial budgeting principles.

 

Compensation:

 

This is an exempt, full-time position.  Annual salary is between $38,000 and $42,500, depending on experience.  Salary increases are dependent on successful fund-raising.

 

We offer nine (9) paid holidays per year: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Indigenous Peoples Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
